FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the ice cream social? The ice cream social is a fun activity hosted by the PTO Officers and traditionally held the first Friday evening after school starts. Each family is asked to bring one topping to share with others. Many bring a small bottle of chocolate or strawberry syrup, sprinkles, or nuts. PTO provides the ice cream, bowls, and spoons. This event is available for all families of St. John School and Church to attend. --------------------------------------
What is the Innisbrook fundraiser? The Innisbrook fundraiser is a great way for PTO to raise money for our school. The Innisbrook catalogs feature wrapping paper, chocolates, and gift items. Students receive a packet of information about 10 days after school starts. Students are encouraged to share the packet with family, friends, and neighbors. PTO receives 50% of all Innisbrook sales and all proceeds help fund the many basic needs of our school. You can order items from Innisbrook, 365 days a year and 24 hours a day, on-line at www.innisbrook.com. Our school ID # is 118627. For more information, please contact Mrs. Linda Alexander. --------------------------------------
What is the Book Fair? During Parent-Teacher Conferences (Oct and Feb), PTO provides an opportunity for parents and students to browse through an excellent selection of children’s literature provided by Scholastic Book Company. There are books available for all ages including fun literature for teenagers and adults. Our school librarian, Ms. Karen Rinke, hand picks each book with everyone in mind. Teachers often provide a Wish List of books they want for their classrooms, and parents/students may purchase these books to help show their support for a current or former teacher. Book Fair is a fundraiser that helps support books needed for our school library. Contact Ms. Rinke to volunteer. --------------------------------------
What are Homeroom Parties? Volunteers are needed to help plan Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine Parties for the children. Homeroom parties occur at 10:45am for Kindergarten AM and 2:50pm for Kindergarten PM and 1st thru 6th grades. If you would like to help with one or all of these parties, please contact Dolores Lemus Kenney.
Preschool parents are encouraged to contact Mrs. Johnson, Preschool Teacher, to see how you can help with Preschool Parties since this is our first year for Preschool. --------------------------------------
What is bingo night? Bingo night is a fun time for students, parents, and teachers to come together for a fun night of B-I-N-G-O. PTO provides prizes for the bingo winners. We are fortunate to have our friends at Kansas Katering, Richard Ramos and Joe Kenney, who often provide a meal for all at a minimal price of $5-$6 each. This event is open to all children of St. John School and Church. Contact Julie Campbell to volunteer. --------------------------------------
